The valley of the river Jerma, unknown to me so far, apart from the beautiful nature, also hides two pearls of sacral architecture. The Monastery of St. John the Theologian, in the village of Poganovo, which I recommend to nature lovers because of the picturesque surroundings of the Jerma river canyon, to lovers of architecture and art because of valuable frescoes and great cultural and historical value, believers and all others who want to enjoy the unreal beauty of this place. A narrow and winding road leads to the monastery with low tunnels carved into the rocks, which protects it from large tourist buses and mass tourism. Due to its inaccessibility, it has remained excellently preserved, although it was built in the 14th century. The restaurant across from the monastery offers local cuisine and drinks, and you can find accommodation in the nearby villages of Poganovo and Trnski Odorovci.

On the way to the Poganovo Monastery, you must not miss the monastery in the village of Sukovo, dedicated to the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God. The monastery is widely known for its handicrafts: icons, balms, herbs and excellent monastery cheese.
